When I painted this image, I hoped to convey the child-like energy and enthusiasm of a shepherd boy's response on that first Christmas eve - the sky alive with hosts of angels and a blazing star. Perhaps he didn't understand the full meaning of the angels' words, but I'm sure he knew that something amazing was taking place. I can imagine him racing off with youthful delight and a reckless desire to see more - may he be a model for all of us. - Susan Rehl
